The Wetland and Wildlife Care Center in Huntington Beach battles hurricane damage after flooding from rain.

The center rehabilitates sick and injured birds, as well as small mammals. The center had to relocate some of the animals after a ceiling tile fell due to water.

“The nursery has to be evacuated and some birds have been placed in a temporary enclosure after we lost the ability to use the water pump in their large pool,” Wetland and Wildlife Conservation Center officials said.

The renovations are expected to cost at least $25,000, and staff say they hope donations will come in to help cover costs ahead of “baby season,” which is a busy time for the center.
