3 accused of arraignment after drugs and weapons found in rollover crash that seriously injured 13-year-old girl

A 13-year-old girl is in critical condition after the driver of the car she was traveling in left a stop and crashed on Wednesday night.

According to the Lake Worth police, officers tried to stop the driver for violating equipment regulations, but the driver refused to stop. Approximately 60 seconds into the chase, the driver hit a curb at 2900 Northwest Center Drive and overturned into a field.

As a result of the accident, three passengers of the car flew out. All four passengers were hospitalized in serious or critical condition.

Xavier Lopez, 18, was one of them and spoke to us from his hospital bed.

“All I remember is that my friends picked me up to go eat at IHOP,” Lopez said.

He admits that the driver didn’t stop.

“The car overturned, everything went dark, and we flew out of the car,” Lopez said.

Lake Worth police said they found cocaine, black tar heroin, drug paraphernalia and two handguns in the wrecked car.

Police identified the passengers as an underage girl, a 16-year-old underage boy, 28-year-old Eric Conde, and 18-year-old Xavier Lopez.

“Not all the details add up,” said Eric Conde’s mother Juanita Flores.

She has questions about his injuries.

“My son told me that the police treated him very rudely and that they kicked him as an amputee, he is an amputee,” Flores said.

She said that Condé had been thrown out of the car in an accident and would have to undergo several surgeries.

“He has a broken hip,” Flores said. “His spine is broken. His sternum is broken. His arm is broken.”

Flores said she knows someone in the car committed some wrongdoing and she just hopes the investigation will bring the right people to justice.

“All I want is the truth,” Flores said. “Whoever is held accountable, they are responsible. But I just want the truth to come out.”

As of Thursday afternoon, the girl remained in the hospital in critical condition, the underage boy had been treated and discharged, and Condé and Lopez were in serious but stable condition.

Police said Conde is wanted for criminal activity and Lopez is wanted for assault causing bodily harm (domestic violence) outside of Austin County. It is unclear if Lopez or Condé have hired lawyers.

Police have said that criminal cases are pending, although none have been filed at the time of this writing. Police said they were also investigating the possibility of sexual assault.
