US Postal Services looking to hire hundreds of employees in San Diego

The US Postal Service is looking for hundreds of new mail carriers in San Diego County.

On Thursday, the USPS held its first-ever recruitment blitz across 77 California post offices. They want to hire 2,400 people across the state and over 300 in San Diego County.

“It’s not a job,” explained Carol Capone, USPS Field Human Resources Manager. “It’s No. 1. It’s a career.”

Capone said that unlike other delivery services, USPS does not hire seasonal employees. They are looking for people who want to retire with the US Postal Service.

“The postal service has been around for over 200 years – we’re not going anywhere,” Capone said with a shrug.

Capone attributed the retirement and promotion to the need to hire hundreds of new employees.
