Suspect surrenders in fatal shooting of downstairs Bronx neighbor in loud noise dispute

A suspect wanted for shooting to death his downstairs Bronx neighbor over a long-running argument about noise has surrendered after more than a week on the run, police said Thursday.

Dillon St. Clair, 39, showed up Wednesday afternoon with a lawyer at the 49th Precinct stationhouse and was charged with murder, manslaughter, and possession of a loaded gun.

Police say he fatally shot Matthew Rushie, 46, the evening of Dec. 17 on Morgan Ave. near Arnow Ave. in Pelham Gardens, outside the multi-family home where they both lived.

The 39-year-old victim was shot in the chest outside the three-story multi-family home on Morgan Ave. near Arnow Ave. in Pelham Gardens.

Rushie, shot in the chest, was rushed by medics to Jacobi Medical Center but could not be saved.

“We were supposed to move two weeks ago and I’m a widow now,” the victim’s distraught wife told CBS New York at the time. “I’m a widow now with four boys. I can’t believe this.”

Police said Rushie and St. Clair lived on different floors of the house and had been arguing for some time about noise.
