A man mourns his wife, who died in a flooded car in Forestville.

FORESTVILLE, CA (KGO) — Marcellino Fontino is devastated by the death of his wife Daphne.

“I miss her so much,” Fontino said, crying. “She was such an amazing person. Anyone would love her.”

The 43-year-old Ukiah resident was on her way to work Tuesday when she got stuck in flood waters from a storm in Northern California.

Fontino is the second storm-related death reported in Sonoma County.

Last week, a 2-year-old boy died when trees fell on his house.

According to Misty Wood from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, Daphne called 911.

“When she called, she called for help,” Wood said. “At this point, water flooded the hood of her car and we lost contact with her during an emergency call. We tried to call her back but couldn’t get through.”

Crews began searching for Daphne in the Forestville area. The next day, they found her in a car submerged eight to ten feet in water.

“Officers came and knocked on the door to inform me that my wife had passed away,” said Marcellino Fontino. “She drowned. When they told me, I couldn’t believe it.”

Daphne left three children aged 10 to 14 years.

Her husband said that she drove patients to appointments and where they needed to go, and that she was on her way to pick up a client.

The GoFundMe page was created to help her family with funeral expenses.
