Woman seriously injured when Tesla driver crashes into garage in Queens
A woman was critically injured in a crash in Queens on Monday after the driver of the car she was in lost control and crashed into a garage, police said.
The 71-year-old driver was trying to park the Tesla at the corner of 192nd Street and 46th Avenue in Auburndale, police and sources said, when he sped up around 6:25 p.m. instead.
Police sources added that the vehicle hit a parked car before tearing down the stop sign and pulling onto the sidewalk.
After moving over the curb, the car broke through the fence and crashed into a detached garage.
The driver suffered minor injuries, while his 42-year-old passenger was seriously injured.
She was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital where she was treated late Monday night.
There were no other vehicles in the accident.
