Who do the Bills play in AFC Wild Card round? Matchup is set

The Miami Dolphins were down to their third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson on Sunday in a win-and-you’re-in game against the New York Jets.

The rookie struggled against the Jets defense, but he did just enough to lead the Dolphins to a 11-6 win, which locked up the final playoff seed in the AFC.

The Buffalo Bills lost out on the no. 1 seed last night when the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Las Vegas Raiders. When play began on Sunday there were three teams (New England Patriots, Dolphins, and Pittsburgh Steelers) that had a shot at the last playoff seed and the Bills clinched no. 2 with a win.

The Bills beat the Patriots to set up the third game of the season between the Bills and Dolphins next week in a matchup between no. 2 and no. 7.

Dolphins starter Tua Tagovailoa suffered his second documented concussion of the season in a Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers. He suffered the injury in the second half and finished the game, throwing three interceptions in the second half. Tagovailoa’s status for the playoffs in unknown. He suffered what most now believe to be a head injury in Week 3 against the Bills and left the game for a period of time before returning and finishing the contest.

Miami’s win over the Jets snapped a five-game losing streak that included a Week 15 loss to the Bills, 32-29.

The Bills closed out their season with a 35-23 win that eliminated the Patriots from the playoffs. New England misses the playoffs one season after making it as a Wild Card team and losing to the Bills, 47-17, in the Wild Card round.

Buffalo kick returner Nyheim Hines returned two kicks for touchdowns in Sunday’s game, becoming the first player to do it since 2010 and just the 11th in NFL history. Josh Allen threw three touchdown passes, including a 42-yard strike to John Brown and a 49-yarder to Stefon Diggs, who tied the team single-season receiving touchdown record with 11 (Bill Brooks, 1995).
