Video: Man tries to snatch bag from woman leaving store in Houston

The woman refused to let go of her purse even after being thrown to the ground, so the man gave up and ran away.

HOUSTON — Houston police are looking for a man who tried to steal a woman’s handbag as she left the store.

It happened on January 6th and it was all caught on camera.

Police said the woman was walking through the parking lot when the man who was following her in the video suddenly grabbed her purse. The woman said she refused to let go of the belt, so the man threw her to the ground, yelling for her to let go, police said.

The man was unable to wrest it from her hands, so he eventually gave up and ran.

The police described him as a man of average build with a thin beard. According to police, he was wearing a gray Houston Texas logo hoodie and light-colored jeans, possibly blue or grey. He also wore a black beanie, black ankle socks, and white Nike low-top sneakers.

On Friday, 6 January 2023, at around 9:20 am, the applicant was leaving the store and walking in front of the parking lot when an unidentified man suddenly grabbed her purse from behind. The applicant stated that she refused to unfasten her belt, so the suspect threw her to the ground, yelling for her handbag. The suspect then gave up and fled when he failed to gain control of the wallet.
