Upstate NY fall foliage map: Grand finale of leaf-peeping season hits Hudson Valley
Cold Spring, N.Y. — So long, trees cloaked in red, gold and orange. Hello, naked winter branches.
After eight glorious weeks, Upstate New York’s leaf-peeping season has come to an end. Nearly every region across Upstate — from the Adirondacks and the Catskills to the Finger Lakes and Chautauqua-Allegheny — is filled with past-peak leaves.
Sure, there are smatterings of ruby-red and buttercup leaves stubbornly clinging to trees across the mostly muted state.
But if you are determined to catch the grand finale of leaf-peeping season, there’s only one place left to catch peak foliage Upstate: the Hudson Valley.
Leaves will reach their colorful peak this week in the Hudson Valley, according to the eighth (and final) I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Report of 2022. Leaf peepers looking for a final glimpse of beautiful fall colors should head to Cold Spring, Poughkeepsie, Beacon and Fishkill.
If you can’t make it to the Hudson Valley, don’t fret. The start of the next riotously colorful fall foliage season is just under a year away.
Here are I LOVE NY’s color change predictions around Upstate for the week of Nov. 2 to Nov. 8:
Hudson Valley
- Putnam County, 80%
- Dutchess County, 80%
Finger Lakes
- Monroe County, past peak colors with spatterings of red
Greater Niagara
