Two shot dead at the pool of an apartment building

NEWHALL, California. A man and a 16-year-old boy were found shot to death today in the pool of the Newhall residential complex.

At 10:50 a.m., authorities were notified of a shooting at residential buildings in the village at 23700 Valle del Oro, north of Newhall Avenue, Homicide Lieutenant Hugo Reinaga of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told reporters at the scene.

According to Reinaga, both victims died at the scene. Their identities were not immediately made public.

Witnesses saw the man climb over the fence of the pool and open fire before running to the parking lot of the apartment complex, he said.

According to Reinaga, the police stopped a vehicle matching the description given by the witnesses and detained two young men inside. Their identities are not revealed.

The preliminary investigation shows that the shooting may be linked to a criminal gang,” he said.

County paramedics arrived on the scene and found one person on the floor of a public swimming pool and another victim lying on a sun lounger.
