Trial date set for accused in Bamboo Lounge shooting
March 22. A trial is scheduled for September for a man accused of killing one person and injuring five others in a shootout at a Brunswick nightclub in January 2022.
Antonio LaFrancis Duncan, 28, of Brunswick, charged in Glynn County Superior Court with one count of murder with malice, two counts of aggravated murder and five counts of aggravated assault for allegedly opening fire at a Bamboo Lounge shortly after midnight on January 15, 2022. after an argument with 32-year-old Brandon Capers.
Duncan is charged with killing Capers that night and injuring four women and one man during a shootout.
Duncan remains at the Glynn County Detention Center on the charges and is awaiting a Supreme Court hearing on the motions, which is scheduled for August 15. Jury selection is set for September 25.
He was wanted after the incident along with 27-year-old Darren Devario Cowart Jr., whom police initially accused of being involved in the murder.
Cowart was arrested on June 14, 2022 after a traffic stop at the 2100 block of Barton Street. Cowart was allegedly a passenger in the vehicle from which police said he jumped and fled.
Cowart now faces charges related to traffic stop but not murder. Court records show that Cowart faces charges of providing false information to law enforcement, possession of a firearm by a first-time offender, and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. His case is still pending.
Cowart remains in the Glynn County Detention Center.
