Tractor-trailer driver fatally struck by wrong-way driver after stepping out of rig in Queens

A tractor-trailer driver was fatally struck by a wrong-way driver after stepping out of his rig on a Queens street early Wednesday, cops said.

The 49-year-old trucker was standing on the westbound side of Grand Ave. near 57th St. in Maspeth when a Chevy sedan driver swerved over the double yellow line and struck him about 2:50 a.m., cops said.

The driver hit both the victim and the tractor-trailer before coming to a stop in the middle of the street, police said.

NYPD Highway are seen working on a 18-wheeler truck that hit a traffic sign pole and a bus stop at Borden and Grand Aves. in Maspeth on Wednesday afternoon.

The trucker died at the scene. His name was not released.

Hit truck was emblazoned with the logo for CVS Pharmacy.

The 43-year-old woman driving the sedan was taken to Elmhurst Hospital with minor injuries. No charges were immediately filed.

Investigators were trying to determine what caused the woman to lose control.
