Toilet is the only thing left standing after a tornado destroyed a gym in Pasadena

Four people had just finished a class when the unthinkable happened. The gym toilet saved their lives.

PASADENA, Texas. The toilet is the only thing left in the Pasadena gym after a tornado swept through the area in severe weather.

There were four people in the CrossFit center on Pansy Street. They had just finished class and were about to put an end to it when the unthinkable happened.

“Total chaos, like chaos, and very loud,” owner Travis Smith said. “Metal cracked, glass shattered. Very loud”.

This is how he described the tornado that literally tore his gym to pieces.

Chris, one of those at the gym at the time, said he saw the gym door blowing very hard before the tornado struck. He said he wanted to close it, but a few seconds later the wind blew it off the rails. The same thing happened to the top door at the back.

At this point, Chris, Smith, and the others had no choice but to run.

“We just all ran to the toilets and watched the whole building collapse,” Smith said.

Luckily, the toilet was the only part of the building that could withstand the force of the tornado.

Smith said that when the beach was clear and they got out, the ceiling beams hung over the toilet.

“I’m not afraid of much, but this is probably the worst thing I’ve been through in my entire life,” Chris said.

Despite the fact that his business is completely destroyed, Smith maintains a positive attitude.

“We can restore it and it will be good, but yes, we are just happy to get out of there,” Smith said.

Several other buildings in Pasadena were destroyed by the tornado, including an animal shelter, apartment buildings, and numerous houses.

The mayor of Pasadena reported only one injured due to severe weather on Tuesday. The injury was not life-threatening.

At 6:30 p.m., the Pasadena Salvation Army opens a relief station at the corner of Burke and Yellowstone for those affected by severe weather. according to the city. Food and other assistance will be provided. The Red Cross will also provide “cleaning kits”.
