Theater School @ North Coast Rep presents a comedic interpretation of all of Shakespeare’s plays

The Theater School @ North Coast Rep will present a wild interpretation of Shakespeare’s The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) as their next student production February 16-19. All 37 games in 97 minutes! These wild actors in tights work their way through all of Shakespeare’s comedies, stories and tragedies in one wild ride that will leave you breathless and helpless with laughter. An irreverent, fast-paced romp through the Bard’s plays, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) was London’s longest-running comedy.

Director Benjamin Cole is delighted to present this comedic interpretation of all of Shakespeare’s plays with amazing student performers. “This script offers not-so-subtle nods to contemporary references with unexpected new twists that our students laugh out loud at as we put the show together,” Cole said in a press release. “It gives so many opportunities to empower the inner clown in each of these actors.” Associate director Steve Smith added in a press release: “To appreciate William Shakespeare is to allow for a contradiction: he is the genius behind centuries of writing who made an impact by evading rules and keeping it fresh by inventing hundreds of words and expressions.

How then is it better to honor the Bard? The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) lovingly taunts the Avon Swan, blending inside jokes for his most dedicated fans with plenty of pop culture references, helping to make this canon-wide canon frenzy accessible to everyone. The show is 97 minutes long with one intermission and hopes to inspire all viewers to rekindle their love of Shakespeare and live performance.
