In the run-up to Easter, the Village Church will present on Sunday, April 2, a special Spring Choir Concert dedicated to the light, hope and comfort that lies in the promise of eternal life. Featuring over 80 voices from the Village Community Chorale, soloists and members of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, this unique concert celebrates Christ’s victory over death by exploring the work of Gabriel Faure, a 19th-century composer and church organist from Paris. Using elements of the Requiem, a traditional Catholic Mass performed at funeral services, Faure’s composition was revolutionary at the time due to the intimate concert setting.

“Faure has created one of the most celebrated choral orchestral works in the world that has been performed consistently throughout the world,” Juan Carlos Acosta, director of music ministry at the Village Church, explained in a press release. “Our concert will also feature an outstanding work by John Rutter, the famous English composer and conductor of choral music, who drew on the work of Fauré as well as Brahms, Mozart and the Anglican choral tradition.”

Listeners are waiting for two beautiful and powerful compositions that radiate light, peace and comfort for the living. The concert will take place at 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 2 at the Village Church, 6225 Paseo Delicias, Rancho Santa Fe. A donation will be collected. Childcare is available through RSVP at [email protected]
