The suspect pleaded guilty to the 2005 murder of Angel Serbay in Westchester County.

On Wednesday, a Florida man pleaded guilty to the brutal murder of a 25-year-old woman north of Yonkers in 2005.

Christopher Gonzalez, 41, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder just over five years after he was arrested in connection with another murder case in 2000 in the Bronx. Investigators later linked him to the murder of Angel Serbay in 2005.

“No matter how long it takes, we will never give up trying to solve cold cold homicide cases in Westchester County,” District Attorney Miriam E. Roca said in a statement. “Now, 18 years later, Angel Serbay’s family has received a well-deserved closure.”

Serbai was found dead and wrapped in a blanket on the side of Sprain Brook Boulevard in Greenburgh on September 3, 2005. Earlier that day, she had been strangled to death.

Angel Serbay was found dead on September 3, 2005.

But the case stalled for many years. Gonzalez was only identified as a suspect after police obtained his fingerprints in connection with another case, the murder of 19-year-old Dora Almoteser in the Bronx on December 2, 2000.

Gonzalez’s DNA was also found at both murder sites. Police said he raped both women. Police officers in Naples, Florida arrested Gonzalez in November 2017 and he was extradited back to New York in December of that year.

Last month, Gonzalez pleaded guilty to Almotesera’s murder in the Bronx.

Gonzalez was sentenced to 20 years in prison on both counts, and his sentences will run concurrently. The hearing in the murder of Serbay, which is a mere formality, will take place on February 24.
