The suspect in the double shooting at the Gainesville mall is still at large, according to police.

Gainesville police received a warrant in connection with a shooting at the Village Shoppes in Gainesville on Monday.

On Tuesday, police said they had blamed Guillermo Vazquez Martinez, 42, for the shooting that injured two men in a mall parking lot.

According to police, Martinez was charged with two counts of aggravated assault for the attempted murder of both victims.

Two men were shot and killed in the Gainesville Village Shops parking lot at 879 Dawsonville Highway while shopping.

The suspect fled the scene and the injured were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Both victims survived the attack.

Officers initially suspected that the victims were being targeted; new events have shown that this was true.

Police said it was not a random crime and that the victims were linked to Martinez.

According to police, the purpose of the attack is still unclear.

Lieutenant Kevin Holbrook said they plan to use all leads to catch Martinez, who fled the scene and is believed to be on the run.
