The search for the suspect in her murder continues.

Johnson, 24, was from San Diego and disappeared during a trip to Houston in April 2022.

Her father told us he was relieved and grateful that she was found.

“I’m just glad my baby is coming home soon in one form or another,” said her father, Kevin Johnson of California. “It’s big, it’s huge, some people never close.”

Johnson first became aware of the remains when they were found on February 7, along with some of his daughter’s jewelry. According to the sheriff’s office, they were sent for DNA testing and dental records.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that dental records have confirmed that the human remains belong to the missing Felicia Johnson of California,” the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to Johnson’s family and friends and we hope this brings them some closure.”

Felicia’s father received the news Monday from the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office.

He told KHOU 11’s Brittany Ford that he was waiting for more information from the Houston police, who are investigating.

The remains were discovered by a TxDOT worker.

He plans to honor his daughter with service once her remains are freed and he can take her home to California.
