The NYPD said a man was fatally hit by a garbage truck in Brooklyn.

Police said a man crossing a Brooklyn street was fatally shot on Thursday evening by a private ambulance.

The driver remained at the scene – E. 14th Street and Kings Highway – and was not charged, although police are still investigating the circumstances of the death.

The collision occurred at 9:50 p.m. Thursday as the 58-year-old victim was crossing Kings Highway at an intersection, police said. The driver was driving east on Kings Highway towards E. 15th Street when he hit the victim.

Police said the victim was dragged away by a truck.

Medics took him to the Maimonides hospital, but they could not save him.
