The Los Angeles Marathon will lead to street closures on Sunday, March 19, 2023.

The marathon used to end near the Santa Monica Pier, but that proved too disruptive for the residents.

The 33rd annual Los Angeles Marathon is scheduled for Sunday morning. The weather should be overcast but dry, ideal weather for a marathon. 30,000 participants will compete in over 20 divisions.

The Los Angeles Marathon (formerly known as the Los Angeles Marathon) is an annual running event that has been held every spring in Los Angeles, California since 1986. The marathon was inspired by the success of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. , and became one of the largest marathons in the country, with over 25,000 participants, thousands of volunteers and hundreds of thousands of spectators. Since 2020, this event has been sponsored by Asics and is officially called the Los Angeles Marathon hosted by ASICS.

No race will take place west of Montana Avenue and San Vicente. The marathon used to end near the Santa Monica Pier, but that was too much of a nuisance to residents, so the race track was changed. Street closures at the LA Marathon track will be implemented as follows:

Elysian Park Ave: Between Dodger Stadium and Sunset Boulevard from 4:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

Sunset Boulevard: Between Park Avenue and Figueroa Street from 4:00 AM to 9:20 AM.

Cesar Chavez Ave: between Bunker Hill and Alameda St from 4:00 AM to 9:30 AM.

Broadway: between Cesar Chavez Ave and Alpine St from 4:00 to 9:35.

Alpine Street: Between Hill and Alameda Streets from 4:00 AM to 9:35 AM.

Spring Street: between College Street and 1st Street from 4:00 AM to 9:35 AM.

1st Street: Between Hope and San Pedro Streets from 4:00 AM to 9:50 AM.

4th Street: between Los Angeles Street and Main Street from 4:00 AM to 9:50 AM.

Main Street: Between 5th Street and Temple Street from 4:00 AM to 9:50 AM.

3rd Street: Between San Pedro and Hill Streets from 4:00 AM to 9:50 AM.

Hill Street: Between 4th Street and Temple Street from 4:00 AM to 9:50 AM.

1st Street: Between San Pedro and Hope Streets from 4:00 AM to 10:05 AM.

Grand Avenue: Between Cesar Chavez Avenue and 2nd Street from 4:00 AM to 10:05 AM.

Temple Street: Between Alameda Street and Glendale Boulevard from 4:00 AM to 10:20 AM.

Edgeware Rd: between Temple Street and Boston Street from 4:00 AM to 10:20 AM.

Bellevue Ave: between Sunset Blvd and Glendale Blvd from 4:00 AM to 10:20 AM.
