The Daniels duo of All Around Studios are working on The Skeleton Squad for Disney+
‘Everything Everywhere All At’ directing duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, best known as The Daniels, are reportedly working on the upcoming Star Wars series The Skeleton Team on Disney+, according to media reports.
The duo will be directing the Star Wars series starring Jude Law, and Variety has reported that Daniels will only direct one episode of the series.
The series, which Lucasfilm announced at the May 2022 Star Wars Celebration, will be set in the New Republic era and will focus on the perilous journey home of a group of children lost in the galaxy. Although further details are being kept under wraps, it has been reported that the series can be compared to Amblin’s coming-of-age films of the 1980s, including ET and The Goonies.
Disney+, LucasFilm and Daniels representatives did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
Skeleton Squad was created by Spider-Man director Jon Watts, who serves as creator and executive producer along with Chris Ford, with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni also executive producing.
The news comes just weeks after ‘Everything, Everywhere, All At Once’ swept the 95th Academy Awards, and Michelle Yeoh’s film won a whopping seven Oscars, including Best Picture, ” Best Director, Best Screenplay (Original or Adapted), Best Actor. and Best Actress.
Prior to directing A24, the duo directed The Swiss Army Man directed by Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe, and prior to that directed music videos including Turn Down for What by DJ Snake and Lil Jon.
Daniels is represented by Mosaic and Jorn Levine.
