The CMPD is investigating a fatal shooting near a McDonald’s in south Charlotte.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide following a fatal shooting in south Charlotte on Saturday night.

.Officers responded to the attack by calling in deadly weapons just after 10:30 pm at McDonald’s on Starmount Cove Lane and South Boulevard. Police said one person was injured and taken to hospital, where he later died. The identity of the victim has not been released.

It is not clear if the victim was shot inside or outside the McDonald’s, nor is it known how many people were inside.

During the work, a Channel 9 film crew was on the scene, who saw how the officers were collecting shell casings at the entrance to the restaurant.

CMPD Major Jackie Briley said they are still looking for a suspect or suspects.

“We are still looking for the suspect or suspects involved in this incident,” Briley said. “Right now, this investigation is still very early.”
