Soldiers accuse inmate of killing fellow inmate at North Country Prison

Governor, New York. An inmate at Gouverneur Correctional Facility was arrested on Monday and charged with the murder of his cellmate, the military said.

Londell A. Dyson, 32, of Poughkeepsie, has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault in connection with the death of Hipólito Nunez, Trooper State Police spokesman Brandi Ashley said.

According to Ashley, Dyson was placed with 30-year-old Nunez from New York in a rehabilitation center in May 2022 when an altercation broke out leading to Nunez’s death.

According to Ashley, the autopsy determined that the cause of death was blunt force trauma with signs of strangulation.

Dyson was indicted by a St. Lawrence County grand jury this month, Ashley said. He was charged on Monday and is being held in the county jail, she said.
