Seven people rescued from San Diego River after heavy rains

Seven people were rescued Monday from the rainy San Diego River, but no one was hurt.

Just after 9 a.m., a rescue team from the San Diego Fire Department arrived in the river area near the 4700 Pacific Highway.

Upon arrival, the fire brigade found the victims stranded on the island and some in the water, fire officials said.

By 9:30 a.m., five people had been rescued from the area, according to the SDFD. The helicopter crew helped locate two more people west of their original location, the department said.

With the help of a rescue boat, rescuers pulled the last two people out of the water on SeaWorld Drive, according to fire officials.
