See how much snow has fallen so far in widespread Upstate NY winter storm (chart)

Syracuse, N.Y. — A widespread winter storm that started Thursday has already dropped up to a foot of snow in Upstate New York.

According to reports submitted to the National Weather Service, the snowiest spots so far, with 12 inches of snow, were the town of Piseco, in Hamilton County; and the hamlet of Livingstonville, in Schoharie County. (See full chart below.)

The heavy, wet snow led to power outages, school closings and community event cancellations across Upstate New York.

Light snow continues as the storm winds down. Tug Hill and Western New York could get a bigger blast of lake effect snow today through early next week.

Below is a chart from snowfall reports compiled by the four weather service offices that forecast for Upstate New York. The list relies on human observers, many of whom are volunteers, so it’s not complete and doesn’t cover every community. Some reports were submitted Thursday night, so they don’t include what has fallen today.
