San Francisco Reparations Committee Offers $5 Million to Black Residents

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — The San Francisco committee has new details about millions of dollars in damages to black residents.

The City’s Advisory Committee on African American Reparations submitted proposals to City officials last month.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle on Tuesday, one of the proposals is a one-time compensation payment of $5 million to each eligible person.

Residents must be 18 years of age at the time the committee’s proposal is accepted, and must have been identified as black or African American on public records for at least 10 years.

They may also have to prove that they were born in the city between 1940 and 1996, lived in San Francisco for at least 13 years, and are someone or a direct descendant of someone who was imprisoned during the war on drugs. .

The committee will present its final proposal to city officials in June.
