SAN ANTONIO. After two fires have died in recent days, the San Antonio Fire Department is stepping up its lifesaving campaign to help people avoid the tragedy.

They say any community group can invite firefighters to visit and spread fire safety awareness.

Brochure in English and Spanish offers ideas for fire prevention.

There is also a reminder that anyone can call 2-1-1 to request a smoke alarm for their home.
