RSF author Adrienne Falzon visited Rowe’s school to share her new book Olivia and the Sea Turtles with students.

Adrienne Falzon, a Santa Fe resident who has written several children’s books, recently spent time reading her new issue of Olivia and the Sea Turtles to elementary students at the R. Roger Rowe School as part of RSF School District Ocean Week. programming that is designed to increase young learners’ awareness of the environment.

Falzon also shared a wealth of knowledge about sea turtles with her excited audience. Falzon draws much of her inspiration from years of experience as a reading specialist, during which she has taught students of all levels of reading, including those living in institutions with a minimum level of security for incarcerated youth. Falzon also found material for her books closer to home, as she and her husband Manny have a blended family of seven sons and nine grandchildren. Her book Live Like Paul chronicles the death of her son Paul and the lessons she learned to find acceptance and grace in the face of life’s injustices.

She is a Board Member and Membership Chair of the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club. Falzon is also co-VP of the Southampton Garden Club in Southampton, New York, where she and Manny reside for part of the year.

Olivia and the Sea Turtles were illustrated by Helen M. Salzburg, who had previously collaborated with Falzon on three other children’s books. Her award-winning artwork has appeared in numerous collections, both public and private, and she initiated the Artist-in-Residence program of the Jaffe Book Art Center in Salzburg at Florida Atlantic University.
