Retire & Respect Event | Conroe Today

CONROE, TX — The Spring Creek Chapter NSDAR, Captain Edward Weyman CAR, Freedom Chapter SAR were pleased to help the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park kick of their Retire and Respect program to educate the community on the proper way to handle The United States Flag and dispose of flags when they are no longer serviceable.

Arabelle Campbell of the Captain Edward Weyman chapter served as the master of ceremonies for the event. The following members or prospective members of the Captain Weyman chapter also participated: Arabelle Campbell, Louise Crawford, Ella Neuenschwander, Hudson Neuenschwander, Julianna Cano, Jenevieve Cano, Josephine Cano, Janelle Cano, Camile Rizk and Noah Rizk. These young patriots led those in attendance in a patriotic program celebrating the flag as a symbol of our country and demonstrated how to properly dispose of flags.

Thank you to the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission for letting all these groups partner with them for this community effort. Currently there is one specially designed box to deposit old flags at the park, which is located at 1776 Freedom Blvd, Conroe TX. The Commission hopes to have similar repositories located around Montgomery County in the near future.
