Queens highway crash kills Elmhurst woman, injures two others

A woman died and two others were injured when a speeding BMW hit a guardrail and flipped over on a Queens highway early Thursday, according to police.

Katherine Lin, 18, was a backseat passenger in the 2018 BMW heading west on the Long Island Expressway near the Van Wyck Expressway around 12:20 a.m., cops said.

The 20-year-old man driving the speeding car lost control and veered into the guardrail, police said.

The car overturned, injuring the driver, Lin and another 18-year-old woman also sitting in the backseat.

Medics rushed all three to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where Lin died.

The driver and other woman were taken to the same hospital in critical but stable condition.

Lin lived in Elmhurst, police said.

Police are still investigating the fatal crash.
