Protester punched out during demonstration against China Covid restrictions at Columbia University

A protest over China’s Covid restrictions at Columbia University turned violent when a counterdemonstrator coldcocked a woman taking part in the rally, police said Friday.

The assailant struck the 21-year-old several times in the head, knocking her out at 7:50 p.m. on Monday in front of the Low Memorial Law Library on W. 116th St, according to the cops.

The young woman was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital where she was listed in stable condition.

Police released an image of a man who authorities said struck a 21-year-old woman taking part in a protest at Columbia University.

The attacker, believed to be in his 30s, ran off and is being sought.

The protest at Columbia was part of a coordinated effort in cities around the world to denounce China’s strict Covid lockdown measures.
