Posthumous album Coolio works with Rapper’s Estate

According to the Associated Press, Coolio’s heirs have announced plans to release a posthumous album later this year featuring the singles the Grammy Award winner was working on before his death.

The album, titled Long Live Coolio, is the first posthumous release from hip-hop star Gangsta’s Paradise. The first single “TAG ‘You It'” was released on Friday featuring Californian rappers Too $hort and DJ Wino.

The music video showed Coolio and Too $hort in a boxing ring as the women twerked. This is the last piece of visual content that Coolio appeared in before his death from cardiac arrest on September 28, 2022 at the age of 59.

In 1995, Coolio won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance for “Gangsta’s Paradise”, taken from the soundtrack to Michelle Pfeiffer’s Dangerous Minds. He also performed the theme song “Oh, that’s it!” for the 90s Nickelodeon sitcom Kenan and Kel.

In total, Coolio has been nominated for six Grammy Awards and has sold over 17 million records worldwide.
