The last of colorful autumn leaves cling to a tree in the morning sun in Munich, Germany, Friday, Oct. 14, 2021.

It’s an opportune time for Houstonians to plan outdoor activities – such as football games, picnics and visits to parks as well as pumpkin patches around the region.

The forecast for the first weekend in October calls for clear, sunny skies, afternoon high temperatures in the 80-degree range and nightly lows in the 60s, according to the National Weather Service’s Houston/Galveston office.

“It’s much more reminiscent of the fall, definitely really pleasant weather,” Bradley Brokamp, a meteorologist with the local National Weather Service office, said Friday afternoon. “There’s not really a cloud in the sky right now.”

Northeast winds of about 5 mph are projected for the weekend, with no chances of precipitation. Some clouds could emerge Saturday night and Sunday.

A high temperature of 85 degrees is forecasted for Saturday, with a low of 63. The high Sunday is expected to be 87, with a low of 64.

Brokamp said the pleasant conditions should last well into next week and potentially throughout next week, when the weather could warm slightly. There is a forecasted high of 90 on Wednesday.

“It looks like it’s going to keep going on for the foreseeable future,” Brokamp said. “From what I can tell (for next week), moisture will still be fairly low and still pretty great conditions. … It’s definitely going to be nice to get outside.”
