Petoska man accused of raping several women
CHARLEVOIS – A 24-year-old Petoskey man was arrested after police uncovered multiple allegations by women that he sexually abused them.
Tyler James McCallum has been charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct causing bodily injury and one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving force or coercion, according to the Charlevoix County Attorney’s Office.
The initial complaint was filed with law enforcement in October 2021 by the victim, who stated that McCallum sexually assaulted her repeatedly during the summer of 2017. the sex was consensual,” a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office said.
Michigan State Police Trooper Gaylord Post investigated the original report. A lengthy investigation followed, during which other women were named as possible victims. One of the women claimed that from 2017 to 2019 she was also repeatedly sexually assaulted by a suspect.

The report was submitted to the Charlevoix County Attorney, Attorney Keith Tholen, and the warrant was issued on February 1. 11 for McCallum’s arrest. He was arrested as he left his residence in Petoskey on February 13 and placed in the Charlevoix County Jail.
McCallum appeared in the 90th Circuit Court of Charlevoix County and received $50,000 cash bail.
His next scheduled court appearance will be on April 25 at 2:30 pm in front of The Honorable Roy K. Hayes III.
