‘Person of interest’ questioned by NYPD in street shooting of Brooklyn public school paraprofessional (EXCLUSIVE)

The NYPD took a person of interest into custody Wednesday for the street shooting of a teenager leaving his job at a Brooklyn public school, police sources told The Daily News.

Javier Oates was charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of firearm in the Tuesday afternoon shooting of 19-year-old Ethan Holder, who is fighting for his life at Brookdale University Hospital, the sources said.

The victim had only started his job as a paraprofessional at Public School 203 The Floyd Bennett School, in the weeks before his shooting in broad daylight outside a local deli around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of Avenue M and Utica Ave.

NYPD detectives identified the person of interest in and brought him in for questioning, with the gunman described as wearing a red hoodie, red sweatpants and a black jacket, sources told The News. The NYPD did not release the person of interest’s name as they continued to grill him.

The victim’s family rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where his mother rushed to the teen’s side as the investigation continued.
