One killed, another injured in crash on I-580 exit
One person died and another was seriously injured after they were hit on Interstate 580 in Livermore on Sunday evening.
According to a CHP employee, the accident occurred after one of the pedestrians disembarked because of a fight with an Uber driver. CHP said they still don’t know where the second pedestrian came from.
The accident happened around 21:30
The Uber driver felt unsafe, called 9-1-1 and pulled over. The driver asked the man to get out of the car.
“I heard that the passenger got out of the window. This has not been confirmed,” said CHP officer Tyler Hahn.
Khan says the Uber driver pulled off the Isabel Avenue exit and was not on the highway when the passenger got off.
After some time, two pedestrians were hit at the exit from the road.
“First they were both hit by a blue Honda Civic and moments later they were hit by a big truck. The person who was in the Uber was killed and another person was seriously injured, and we don’t really know who the person was at the time,” Khan said.
Khan says that the victim is now unable to speak. He says everyone is cooperating and no one has been arrested.
Uber also said they say they are working with law enforcement on their investigation.
