One arrested for cocaine, fentanyl

January 16th. The Austin man, who has already been charged in a long string of cases, including an alleged drive-by shooting just under two years ago, has returned to the Mauer County Jail.

Terry Easel Heggs, 39, was arrested on Friday, January 13, after a search warrant was issued at 3401 West Oakland Avenue, where the Wing Bazaar restaurant is located.

According to a press release issued Monday by Austin Police Chief David McKichan, officers from the APD, the Mauer County Sheriff’s Office, the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crime Squad, and the South-Central Minnesota Narcotics Task Force assisted with the investigation, during of which more than 50 grams of cocaine were found. is in the room along with suspected fentanyl.

“The protected party from Heggs in the DANCO case was also found in close proximity to Heggs,” McKichan said in a press release.

The charges are currently pending with the Mauer County Attorney’s Office.

Heggs was also arrested in November last year for failing to register as a predator, as well as three gross misdemeanors, including violating a family contact ban, domestic violence and tampering with an emergency call.

According to a legal complaint in the case, APD officers were sent to the same address for an emergency call, during which the dispatcher heard an argument and a woman screaming before being turned off.

When the officers got in touch, Heggs was arrested and the victim was found with blood on his lip and sweatshirt. The victim told police that she was frightened during the argument because of Heggs’s violent past towards her and the fact that he allegedly kicked and punched the victim in the stomach and face.

Heggs has already appeared before a jury trial scheduled for Tuesday in four separate cases. One of these cases included an alleged drive-by shooting that occurred on August 20, 2021.

Court documents in the case say police arrested Ryan Christopher Collins, 32, on August 20, 2021, on the 400th block of Third Avenue in Austin after reports of two vehicles chasing each other. Collins fled the police in a 2005 Chevrolet Impala that had been damaged by bullets. After his arrest, Collins indicated that the Magic (later identified as Heggs) fired at him from a white Porsche Cayenne. He indicated that Heggs shot him because Heggs believed he robbed him.

The Department of Corrections told law enforcement that Heggs was wearing a GPS monitor. Further investigation revealed that Heggs’ location at the time of the shooting was consistent with information provided by Collins.

Heggs’ criminal history review reflects a stalking conviction dated February 5, 2018 in Olmsted County and two convictions for refusing to register as a predatory offender, again dated 2018 in Olmsted County.
