NYC Mayor Adams Defends Friendship With Pro-Trump Radio Personality Sid Rosenberg: ‘Everybody Wants To Cancel People’

Mayor Adams spoke out on Wednesday against fellow Democrats who have criticized his friendship with conservative radio host Sid Rosenberg and accused them of seeking to “undo the people.”

Adams was responding to a Daily News report earlier this month that local Democratic strategists and elected officials were alarmed by his camaraderie with Rosenberg, given the radio host’s right-wing commitments, including his outspoken support for former President Donald Trump.

In a Wednesday morning appearance on Rosenberg’s radio show WABC77, Adams took offense at the criticism, saying that “the heart of the American Dream” is being able to connect with people of polar political views.

“So what if you don’t agree? Why should we be so insecure about who we are because we don’t agree?” Adams told Rosenberg. “Here’s the problem: everyone wants to automatically exclude people because they don’t agree with them on certain things.”

Echoing Adams’ criticism, Rosenberg, who usually hosts far-right political figures such as Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump Jr. on his show, added: “I have to tell you, Mr. Mayor: More Democrats have stopped me over the last couple. weeks and congratulated me on this relationship and said, “Let me tell you that the Adams-Rosenberg relationship is exactly what New York politics needs.”

Adams replied, “Look, I agree.”

Allen Roscoff, a veteran LGBTQ activist who has been friends with Adams for many years, said he was disappointed with the way the mayor hugged Rosenberg.

“I wouldn’t want to breathe the same air as Sid Rosenberg,” Roscoff told The News, noting that the radio host supports Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ restrictions on teaching children about LGBTQ rights in schools. “And certainly the mayor shouldn’t call him any respect.

Wednesday marked at least the sixth time Adams has appeared on The Rosenberg Show since taking office. As first reported by The News, the pair have also spoken privately on several occasions in recent weeks, with Adams calling Rosenberg’s radio show his “favorite”.

Closing Wednesday’s broadcast, Rosenberg joked to Adams, “I’m looking forward to dinner next week with you, me, and DeSantis.”

Adams chuckled in response.
