NY election results: See voting totals for Congress (U.S. House, Senate)

Who will represent New York state in Congress?

2022 election results are still coming in from Tuesday’s midterms, but notable races include U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, the third-most powerful Republican in Congress, winning reelection against Democratic candidate Matt Castelli in the state’s 21st Congressional District; GOP Rep. Claudia Tenney winning again in New York’s 24th Congressional District; Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also known as AOC, winning a third term in the 14th district; and a handful of Republicans winning House seats in New York City’s suburbs.

Some races are especially close, including the NY-22 showdown between Democrat Francis Conole and Republican Brandon Williams. Williams declared victory early Wednesday and currently has 49.6% of the vote, but Conole has not yet conceded with 48.4% and just a few thousand votes separating them in Central New York.

Even closer is the 18th Congressional District, which centers around Poughkeepsie and includes parts of Ulster, Orange and Dutchess counties. As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, Democrat Pat Ryan leads by less than 1% of the vote against Republican Colin Schmitt.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) also won re-election to the U.S. Senate with 55% of the vote, though it still remains unclear if Democrats will retain control of the Senate. Some of the most-watched races elsewhere include the tight Georgia Senate race between incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, a Democrat, and Republican challenger Herschel Walker, which may head to a runoff, and in Pennsylvania, where John Fetterman flipped a Senate seat blue by defeating the GOP’s Dr. Mehmet Oz.

New York’s other senator, Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand, is not up for re-election until 2024.
