North Texas mother Shamaya Hall accused of baby murder has a criminal record

ELLIS COUNTY (CBSNewsTEXAS) – A North Texas mother accused of killing three of her children has a criminal record, and her twin sister is charged with a terribly similar crime.

Shamaya Deyonshana Hall, 25, is currently being held at the Ellis County Detention Center on three counts of capital murder.

Hall’s five children were living in a home on Harris Street in Italy with a relative in temporary CPS care when they were visited by a social worker Friday afternoon, according to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the CPS caseworker ultimately decided to take the children out of the house and called 911 around 4:00 pm. When an officer arrived at the scene about five minutes later, they found all five children inside with stab wounds.

A six-year-old boy and five-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, died. A four-year-old boy and a 13-month-old girl survived with severe injuries.

It is unclear why Hall was at home on Friday and whether this influenced the social worker’s decision to pick up the children.

Court records show that this is not Hall’s first arrest.

In 2017, she was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for threatening a man with a knife. In 2020, she pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm after biting someone.

Her twin sister Troishe Hall was charged with murder in 2021 for allegedly stabbing her own seven-year-old daughter to death in South Dallas. According to court documents, she was declared unfit to stand trial and committed to an inpatient psychiatric facility.
