“Upon arrival, arriving officers found several firearm victims and a large group of people,” the Columbus Police Department said in a Facebook post Saturday.

The victims included boys aged 5, 12, 13, 14, 17 and two aged 15. Two girls, both aged 13, were also injured, police said. All victims have life-threatening injuries and are being treated at local hospitals.

As of Saturday morning, no arrests had been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Police Chief Freddie Blackmon said there is a “splash of gun violence across the country involving our youth” and the only way to combat it is through “community efforts.”

“While Columbus is not immune to these incidents, I want to reassure citizens that the men and women of the CPD are working tirelessly to get violent criminals off our streets,” Blackmon said in a statement. “The whole village is responsible because incidents like this affect us all.”
