Nine cars damaged in Chula Vista apartment fire

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire on Sunday after several vehicles were destroyed at the Chula Vista housing estate.

The fire was reported at 2 a.m. in an apartment complex on Kennedy Street. A fire investigator told NBC 7 that a total of nine vehicles were damaged or destroyed in the fire. The car park was also badly damaged.

Chula Vista Fire worked to keep the flames from spreading to other buildings and quickly extinguished the flames. Some residents did have to be evacuated, but were later allowed to return home.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
