Newsom for… vice president? | california globe

Kamala Harris is bad at her job – that goes without saying.

Republicans are talking about it, Democrats are talking about it, independents are talking about it, former employees are talking about it, polls are talking about it, and—with her consistently cutting back on English—she pretty much says it herself.

It was clear from the beginning that Joe Biden was cynically forced to choose her—the only opponent of a Democratic candidate who openly called him a racist—as his vice president.

When she got to the office, she demanded a high-profile assignment from Biden, and he gave her the border. As with the reappointment of Eric Garcetti, the brutal futility of this move makes it abundantly clear that the president (or the people who write the scripts, feed him, walk him and treat him) has an obnoxious and vengeful sense of humor.

It turns out that desire is if Biden does try to run for re-election — the movers and shakers in DC really want him to drop Harris as his vice president.

Interestingly, in theory, this would open up the possibility for her to run for Feinstein, and such a run has a built-in slogan: Too stupid to be a vice president but smart enough to be a senator (note – I can’t say I made this up as it came as a comment from someone I don’t remember in one of the many other stories about Harris’s incompetence, so credit where credit is due wherever credit is due.)

So what’s left for Democrats?

A little in brine.

Kicking the first-ever Jamaican-Indian vice president to the sidelines would be extremely problematic for the party, especially given its narrow views on identity politics.

But it looks like it could be fixed relatively easily. – just push Pete Buttigieg into the seat and get almost the same number of identity points for running the first openly gay VP candidate. While it certainly won’t help with the black vote, it could be enough to boost turnout in other elections.

However, this concept no longer fits due to Eastern Palestine. The transport minister was given a fairly easy opportunity to appear empathetic, empathetic, and at work — instead, he was obnoxious, aloof, unhelped, late, and even managed to mispronounce the name of the city.

Combined with supply chain issues, still lurking problems in the freight rail system, FAA computer noise that brought a full day of flights to a halt, and his leave of weeks and months on maternity leave, and his chances of political advancement became toast.

The rest of the Democratic bench is also a little problematic. Elizabeth Warren? Does not expand base. Gretchen Whitmer? Apparently not interested. Amy Klobuchar? Possibly, but she has the same problem as Harris, mistreating her staff. J. B. Pritzker? Chicago crime and his rude appearance are not vote winners. Hillary? Too perfect/funny/terrible, and then there’s this creeping feeling that with her as VP, Joe will definitely not make it to the end of his term.

Oprah? Interesting, but probably not. Michelle Obama? It’s also interesting, and as Barack roams the White House, for better or worse, there will be at least one ageless president in the state.

AOC and/or the rest of the squad? The best gift to Republicans. A moderate Democratic governor? Probably the best idea, but absolutely never going to happen.

So, what are we left to do with the main players (for now)?

Hey Gavin.

Telegenic (until he opens his mouth) – check. Progressive Integrity – Test and Test; There are satellites in California to detect CO2 and methane – or Fartniki – for God’s sake. Access to lots of money – yes. The story of how he made sure he didn’t raise taxes on his personal billionaire friends? – what is the wealth tax? Can predict the future of the Democratic Party, no matter how terrifying it may seem? – he’s a poster boy for that.

Politically, if asked, it would be an easy task. He’s able to keep his day job, he’s expanding his presence in the country, and he’s gearing up perfectly for the 2028 presidential race, either as the incumbent vice president or as “a seasoned campaign veteran who tried hard but couldn’t overcome Biden’s weakness.” “. (You will see this exact line in the newspaper in 2025.)

But isn’t he so self-centered and narcissistic that he can’t handle second place in terms of personality? Not when he knows there’s something in it for him – he worked for Jerry Brown for eight years.

The script does have a flaw – the inherent weakness of the California police when they try to operate on the road, but with a sycophant collaborationist press, which could at least be softened somewhat.

Vice President Gavin Newsom: I think I saw those words in the Book of Revelation, or Brave New World, or The Heavenly Machine, or Dante, or some medieval bestiary.

Let’s hope we don’t see him next year.
