New details of the death of a 15-year-old teenager from the Bronx, who got into a fight with his stepfather

A Bronx teenager who died after a confrontation with his stepfather stabbed the man during the row, police said Wednesday.

Corday Scott, 15, was unconscious when he was rushed from his family’s apartment on Doris Street near Lion Avenue in Westchester Square to Jacoby Medical Center on January 23, police said.

He was injured and bruised his neck, and the doctors could not save him.

After Korday’s death, the doctor who pronounced him dead called the police, who took his 28-year-old stepfather into custody.

The police interrogated the man at the hospital, but he was not immediately charged.

The next day, he was interrogated again at the 45th precinct and released.

On Friday, the city’s medical examiner determined Corday’s death was a homicide due to “asphyxia, including compression of the neck,” a spokesman said.

The stepfather has yet to be charged and the Bronx District Attorney’s office is still deciding whether he will prosecute the man.

The stepfather told police he and Korday got into a fight after he picked him up from a school where he was having problems and acting inappropriately, police sources said on Wednesday.

They argued on the way home and continued when they arrived at the apartment, they added.

The disagreement became physical, and the stepfather told police that he was holding Corday back.

At some point during the chaos, the teenager stabbed the man, Detectives Chief James Essig said at a press conference on Wednesday.

The stepfather was released from prison last month, Korday’s grandfather told the Daily News last week.

The stepfather was sentenced to five years in prison for the August 2018 shooting, during which he initially faced charges of attempted murder, court records show. He ultimately pleaded guilty to assault.

“I haven’t slept yet,” said Grandpa Winston Scott. “I look in the mirror, but there is no whiteness in my eyes. Just black and red. He was a good boy.”
