New details about the fatal crash at Lake Worth, off-duty police officer is the victim in the crash

Fort Worth, Texas – As we already reported earlier today, the fatal crash that took place Saturday afternoon at Lake Worth resulted with one dead and three people injured and transferred to hospital for treatment.

The fatal incident took place just after 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Boat Club Road and Rocky Point Trail in Lake Worth, police said.

Police released new details about the crash confirming that an off-duty police officer was killed in the incident.

According to the police, Det. Alejandro Cervantes was killed in the crash while driving his Chevy Impala after he was struck by the 26-year-old Dylan Molina who was driving Jeep Wrangler. The police confirmed that Molina ran a red light and struck the off-duty police officer’s vehicle.

Cervantes was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A woman in the Impala was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth in critical condition and two children in the car were taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police said Molina was charged with intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault.

Cervantes served the Euless Police Department for nearly seven years, prior to which he worked eight years for the El Paso Police Department.
