Ndiva and Yimer win the Los Angeles Marathon
Kenya’s Stacy Ndiva and Ethiopia’s Cemal Yimer won the 38th Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday.
Ndiva finished in 2 hours 31 minutes and Yimer finished in 2 hours 13 minutes and 13 seconds.
The 26.2-mile race began at Dodger Stadium at 7 a.m. Sunday with 22,000 runners, including many from across the country.
Those who also participated in the hike included young students from the Students Run to Los Angeles, as well as people who trained throughout the year and people who competed in the wheelchair race.
The race went through Los Angeles from Dodger Stadium, through Hollywood, Century City, Beverly Hills and Brentwood.
The following restrictions will be in effect from 4:00 AM to 9:50 AM:
- First Street from Hope Street to San Pedro Street;
- Los Angeles Street from Temple Street to Fifth Street;
- Fourth Street from Los Angeles Street to Main Street;
- Main Street from Fifth Street to Temple Street;
- Third Street from San Pedro Street to Hill Street; And
- Hill Street from Fourth Street to Temple Street.
The following restrictions will be in effect from 4:00 AM to 10:05 AM:
- First Street from San Pedro Street to Hope Street; And
- Grand Avenue from Cesar Chavez Avenue to Second Street.
The following restrictions will be in effect from 4:00 AM to 10:20 AM:
- Temple Street from Alameda Street to Glendale Boulevard;
- Edgeware Road from Temple Street to Boston Street; And
- Bellevue Avenue from Sunset Boulevard to Glendale Boulevard.
The following restrictions will be in effect from 4:00 AM to 10:40 AM:
- Glendale Boulevard from Temple Street to Sunset Boulevard.
The following restrictions will be in effect from 4:00 AM to 11:10 AM:
- Sunset Boulevard from Echo Park Avenue to Virgil Avenue.
The following restrictions will be in effect from 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM:
- Hollywood Boulevard from Hillhurst Avenue to La Brea Avenue; And
- Orange Avenue from Hollywood Boulevard to Sunset Boulevard.
The following restrictions will be in effect from 05:00 to 12:45:
- Sunset Boulevard from Highland Avenue to Doheny Drive.
The following restrictions will apply from 05:00 to 13:00:
- San Vicente Boulevard from Sunset Boulevard to Melrose Avenue;
- Santa Monica Boulevard from La Cienega Boulevard to Sierra Drive;
- Doheny Drive from Nemo Street to Wilshire Boulevard;
- Burton Way from Robertson Boulevard to Rexford Drive;
- South Santa Monica Boulevard from Rexford Drive to Moreno Drive;
- Rodeo Drive from Santa Monica Boulevard to Wilshire Boulevard; And
- Wilshire Boulevard from Beverly Drive to Santa Monica Boulevard.
The following restrictions will apply from 05:00 to 18:00:
- Santa Monica Boulevard from Wilshire Boulevard to Sepulveda Boulevard.
The following restrictions will apply from 05:00 to 14:45:
- Sepulveda Boulevard from Santa Monica Boulevard to Wilshire Boulevard.
The following restrictions will apply from 05:00 to 14:20:
- Wilshire Boulevard from Sepulveda Boulevard to Barrington Avenue.
The following restrictions will apply from 05:00 to 17:00:
- San Vicente Boulevard from Wilshire Boulevard to Saltire Avenue.
The Avenue of Stars between Santa Monica Boulevard and Constellation will be closed for the entire weekend of the marathon, closing at 8 a.m. Saturday and reopening at 8 p.m. Sunday. Eastbound Santa Monica Boulevard lanes will be closed from the Avenue of Stars to Century Park East from 9:00 pm Saturday to 6:00 pm Sunday. Century Park East will be closed from Santa Monica to Constellation from Saturday 8:00 am to Sunday 8:00 pm. Century Park East from Constellation to Olympic will be closed from 3:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Sunday.
There will be some additional street closures that are not officially part of the race track. These “local access” closures will occur in Elysian Park, Downtown, Echo Park, Silver Lake, Hollywood, and West Hollywood. Residents living in these areas will be given access to closed streets.
The following freeway exits will be closed between approximately 1:00 AM and 4:00 PM, according to Caltrans:
- At Harbor Highway (110) northbound, Hill Street/Stadium Way exit and Temple Street exit;
- On the South Harbor Freeway, Hill Street, Stadium Way and Sunset Boulevard/Figueroa Street exits.
- On Hollywood Highway North (101), Spring Street, Grand Avenue, Glendale Boulevard/Echo Park Avenue and the Sunset/Hollywood Ramps, as well as the left turn lane of the Gower Street exit and the right turn lane of the Highland Avenue exit.
- At 101 Freeway southbound, Broadway, Temple, Sunset/Hollywood and Highland exits, and on the right turn of the Gower Street and Vine Street exits, and at the Academy Road exit to the Amador exit.
- On the Santa Monica Highway (405) heading north, at the Wilshire Boulevard exit west.
- On 405 South, left turn lane at Santa Monica Boulevard exit and Wilshire Boulevard exit.
