Matchbox Twenty have named their new band as the opening act for St. Joe’s Amp in Syracuse

Matchbox Twenty have finally named a new show as the opening act for their upcoming 2023 tour, including at St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater in Lakeview.

Rock band led by Rob Thomas to perform at St. Joe’s Amp in Syracuse on Saturday, July 29th. Special guest Ben Rector will open the concert at 19:30.

Tickets are currently on sale through Live Nation. Prices start at $39 (or $51.85 including fees).

The show was originally scheduled for 2020 but has been postponed several times due to the Covid pandemic and “an excess of caution for Matchbox 20 family members”. Tickets purchased on the original date are valid on the new date.

Rector will also join Matchbox Twenty at two other upstate New York stops on July 30 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) in Saratoga Springs and on August 1 at the Darien Lake Amphitheater near Buffalo.

The Wallflowers were originally scheduled to open for Matchbox Twenty, creating the perfect pairing of the two bands with pop-rock hits from the 90s and 2000s. Instead, The Wallflowers, led by Jacob Dylan, are headlining upcoming shows May 3 at The Egg in Albany and August 4 at Lincoln Hill Farms in Canandaigua.

Matchbox Twenty is known for songs like “Push”, “Back 2 Good”, “Real World”, “3AM”, “Bent” and “Unwell” and lead singer Rob Thomas also had big hits with “Lonely No More” and Santana’s “Smooth” collaboration. The band released a new song, “Wild Dogs (Running in a Slow Dream)” on Friday, and will be releasing a new album this year.

Rector is an American singer-songwriter who has released nine albums and four EPs featuring fan-favorite songs such as “Brand New”, “I Like You”, “Forever Like That”, and “Love Like This” and has collaborated with artists like Steve Winwood. , Snoop Dogg, Dave Koz and Taylor Goldsmith.

Eighteen concerts are currently on the St. Joe’s Amp this year. The Amp played 20 shows last year.
