Marriott International signs agreement to open eight hotels in Saudi Arabia

Marriott International has announced that it has signed an agreement with holding company Rua Al Madinah to open eight hotels in the Holy City of Medina in Saudi Arabia.

The new openings will include approximately 4,400 rooms from the hotel giant’s eight renowned brands, including The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Marriott Hotels, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft Hotels and the Courtyard by Marriott.

The property will be located in close proximity to the Prophet’s Mosque, Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, as part of the Rua Al Madinah Project, which aims to improve the quality of travel for visitors to the Medina. Development is expected to cover 1.5 million square meters by 2030, including 47,000 new rooms.

The Ritz-Carlton, Rua Al Madinah boasts 151 luxurious rooms and suites, including the Ritz-Carlton Signature Suite, multiple restaurants, a 500 sq. The hotel has 252 rooms and suites, as well as several restaurants, a fitness center and meeting rooms.

The Madinah Marriott Hotel Rua Al Madinah will offer travelers an additional 450 spacious guest rooms and suites, as well as restaurants, leisure and conference facilities; Le Méridien Rua Al Madinah boasts 533 contemporary rooms and suites, as well as three restaurants in addition to lounges and meeting rooms, while The Westin Rua Al Madinah will feature 361 rooms and suites, three restaurants, a fitness center, kids club, and meeting rooms.

Finally, Four Points by Sheraton Rua Al Madinah is expected to add 777 contemporary rooms and suites, two all-day dining concepts, spacious meeting rooms and a fitness center, while Aloft Rua Al Madinah and Courtyard by Marriott Rua Al Madinah will host a combined 1,810 rooms and suites, 1,100 square meters of meeting space, and a variety of dining and leisure options.
