Manhattan murder victim was aspiring rapper with loving family

A Manhattan man fatally gunned down in Chelsea was an aspiring rapper with a loving family and two children, grieving relatives said Thursday.

Anthony “Ant” Holley, 44, was shot while standing on W. 17th St. near Ninth Ave. on Sunday night, police said.

“They came up to him and shot him in the back of the head,” his sister, Tashey Holley told the Daily News.

Holley was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he died.

“Everyone who knew him loved him,” Tashey Holley said. “He helped out anybody.”

The gunman, dressed in dark clothing, ran from the scene and is still being sought.

It wasn’t clear why Holley was shot, but police are looking for any connections to his past.

He had 16 arrests, mostly for drug offenses, and served four terms in state prison, all convictions connected to selling drugs. All told he spent more than 16 years in prison.

His sister wouldn’t talk about his past, noting he was working odd jobs and was determined to pursue a career recording rap music.

“He was in the studio saying he wanted to take it serious this time and pursue it until this happened,” she said. “They cam up to him and shot him in the back of the head.”

Holley, she said, had a family who loved him, including a son, 18, and a daughter, 8.
