Manhattan Cigarette Shop Worker Shot in Leg While Chasing Violent Crowd

Police said on Wednesday that a Hell’s Kitchen smoker worker was shot in the leg as he tried to escort a disobedient crowd out of the store.

The 32-year-old victim was working in Smoke City on Ninth Avenue near 49th Street when more than half a dozen men entered the store around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, police said.

The visitors, who were in their 20s and teenagers, made a row, which caused an argument between them and a worker who ordered them to leave.

The officer had just thrown the men out of the store when one of them pulled out a gun and shot him in the upper left leg, police said.

Then the crew dispersed, and some fled the territory on motor scooters.

Medics took the smoke workshop worker to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated for a minor injury.

No arrests were made.
